Pick it up by the crown (the top part), NEVER the root. Rinse it gently with water without scrubbing. Try to place it back in the socket. If you can’t, keep it moist in a glass of milk or tucked inside your cheek. Get to our office immediately.
Rinse your mouth thoroughly with warm water. Gently use dental floss to remove any food caught between your teeth. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever like Ibuprofen (Advil) to reduce inflammation. Never put aspirin directly on your gums.
Apply a cold compress or ice pack to the outside of your cheek for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. This will help control swelling and numb the pain until you arrive.
